  • Comments: Since this was my first tri of the season, I decided to just do the "mini sprint" distance. I have several Sprints and an Olympic later in August, and so I treated this as my tune-up race. Overall it went quite well and I was happy with my performance. The swim settled my nerves and I feel confident about my Sprint race next weekend.

  • Comments: This is probably the first race I won that I'm totally not happy with. I thought I should be top 10% for all 3 legs in a try-a-tri. With all the swimming over the winter, I thought I've improved but for some reason, nothing felt right today, esp compared to my OWS at Lake Wilcox last wk. I definitely need more OWS practice before Leamington and Edmonton. The transitions were a mess. I later found out that I was racked in the wrong wave and some of the issues may have been avoided if I had racked properly. Good thing this is just prep race for Leamington, and Leamington is prep for Edmonton. There's still time. I did this race 2yrs ago as prep for the Worlds. My time then was 15" faster and I was happy with all 3 legs. Hopefully, that means I'm not much slower this year, just that my expectation is higher. We'll find out in 2 wks. After the race, we drove to Appleby Line to scout out the Rattlesnake hills. Wow, very challenging with switch backs and steep narrow climbs, just

  • Comments: I feel the course was just right based on my time training. I would say the bike and run were easy however given the struggle with the swim, this made it just right.

  • Comments: 1st race so it's tough to rate. If all other races are like this, then I'd be quite pleased. Can't wait to try it again.

  • Comments: Since this is the first race of the season and only 5 days before the Worlds, I just wanted to get my feet wet and make sure everything go smoothly. I didn't push myself too hard and I erred on the side of caution as I didn't want to injure myself or get into an accident. Overall, this served as a good prep race and I'm quite happy with my performance. I might have been on the podium if they used 5yr AG instead of 10yr. There were many more F40-44 women and they're much faster. No matter, I know I can push harder come Worlds.

  • Comments: Need some marshalls on the run. The try-a-tri felt a bit short. Next time I will try the sprint!

  • Comments: Nothing to compare to, but the event was well run and the area was beautiful. Didn't put much pressure on myself to go hard, just wanted to learn the ropes a bit. Next event will be a Sprint distance and will be close to the benchmark for me to start.

  • Comments: Since this was my first race, I do not think it would be fair to rate it. However, I did enjoy it and will come back next year for the regular tri. The park is picturesque, and the lake, since it is small is much warmer then Lake Ontario this early in the season.

  • Comments: Excellent first race for me overall. It was definitely a good place to learn a few things about the sport. Watching the sprint afterwards gave me some pointers as well. Going into my sprints in the next few months will be easier now that I have done this race. Oh yeah, getting a third place in my age category was amazing!
