Swim
Comments: I started early in the age groupers and couldn't find anyone to draft until very late in the swim. I went easier than I should have in the middle of the swim and had to stop a couple times because of people crossing the buoy center line and for the sprint racers. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Had a good bike, but my chain fell off and I was a little hesitant to push the really big gears for the first half. I also missed a turn and got into the gravel at 30+ mph. That was scary! Good bike, though. I'll take 10th overall! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Stomach cramps on the first half of the run really kept me from getting into rythm. I was expecting to run this in less than 40 min, but my digestive system wasn't letting that happen. I slowed way down and sipped some water at the halfway aid station and felt better after that. Miles four and five felt great and I think I was running under 6:30 pace like I wanted. The hills on mile six got me and the sprint to the finish hurt. What would you do differently?: I'm eating my standard oatmeal for breakfast next time instead of shredded wheat. Post race
Warm down: Walked a lot! What limited your ability to perform faster: My digestive system, poor swim time and mishaps on the bike. Event comments: Awards ceremony ran two hours long. Not too bad, other than that. Very technical and hilly bike. This is a tough race if you're not ready for lots and lots of hills. The only flat spot on the race course is the swim. Good run warm-up, but that's it. No biking and very little swimming.
