Swim
Comments: I started at the front, deep on the right. I thought there would be less current and people to fight. By the time I got to the last bouy, I was in the main stream. I never found anyone to draft off since I was just passing people as I came upon them. What would you do differently?: I was rather freaked out about having that many people in the water for a deep water start. I think I need to understand that I am in the top 10% of swimmers and be aggressive about placing myself in the front. In this case, I still might have stayed deep because of the ocean condiditons. Transition 1
Comments: Plenty of free time to loose here. I didn't know where I was going when I got out of the water, so I didn't make a straight line. We had a pretty long way from the water to the transition and a couple of girls passed me cause I was jogging. I forgot to buy a race belt, and had to fumble with safety pins. I also had a hard time clipping in and should have just started riding, because after a couple of strokes, I was in. What would you do differently?: get race belt learn to jump into shoes already clipped on bike no socks run to transition, even though its a long way. Bike
Comments: Clearly, I got passed a lot. But I had a ball. The bike was the best part. I loved blasting thru stop lights and having traffic held up for moi. I greeted all the cops, thanked all the encouraging volunteers and said good morning to all the passers by. I made it to 34 mph on the down hill and then put it in an easy gear on the last half mile to transiton. I couldn't stop grinning. Felt much stronger in the second half of the bike. What would you do differently?: get bike tuned up before race go aero...it seems to make a difference learn to attack the hills more Transition 2
Comments: This transition was fine. Run
Comments: Obviously, I got passed some more here, but I am really very pleased with the run. I had noodle legs after transition, but not for too long. I really tried to stick with my evolution running form, and kept it together pretty well. My goal was under 10 min miles, and I did it. I never felt like walking and I had a tiny bit of juice left at the finish. What would you do differently?: Considering that I just started Evolution running 6 weeks ago, I think I did just fine. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Drank some water. Said "hi" to Nancy-tritwinmom. Felt happy. What limited your ability to perform faster: Dude, it was my first one. Event comments: I'll be doing it again next year folks. Watch out because next year is going to be a very diffent story. ;-) Last updated: 2007-06-21 12:00 AM

Up at 4:45. Poop, pee, wash hands, change, make peanut butter banana whole wheat bagels, wake Thing 1 and out the door. Friend Peter came along too and made sure the tires were pumped up and helped me rack the bike and provided light in transition. It was so cool that Thing 1 wanted to come along. He is such a great kid.
Jogged to bathrooms. Calves sore, so I decided to not do that anymore.
