Swim
Comments: Seeded myself on the left side of the pack for the first right turn. Got bumped around in the first 200 meters which jarred my goggles loose and got water in. Flipped over and back stroked to readjust my goggles. Found a rhythm shortly after that looked for feet to draft and couldnt find any so just went by feel. What would you do differently?: Work on starts and turbulent swim conditions with other swimmers. Seed higher and get out fast! Transition 1
Comments: Had to run to mount/dismount line in my shoes because barefoot would take too long d/t rough pavement. What would you do differently?: Find a jersey that fits under wetsuit or get trisuit to cut down on changing time. Bike
Comments: Lots of blisters on my feet with no socks. I like the speed of not having to dry feet and put on socks I just need to start training like that earlier to build better calluses. A little uncomfortable in aero. Good climbs today. Stayed in small chainring for first 10 miles to make sure that I had legs for the run. Nutrition went great What would you do differently?: Get in aero more often. Get in big chainring earlier (maybe around mile 5) Transition 2
Comments: Unremarkable. Had to keep shoes on d/t rough pavement past mount/dismount line. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Had a great first 4 miles. Found a running partner and carried an 8:30-9:00 for those first 4. He had to stop and my paced dropped off after that. Stomach felt heavy and waterlogged. Guess I wanted to prevent dehydration so much that I drank too much. What would you do differently?: Injuries limited my running training so I need to progress my training distances more effectively to limit injury. Work on run nutrition Post race
Warm down: 50 foot walk to the tent for 3 IV bags...lol. What limited your ability to perform faster: First tri ever so I think that the lack of knowing what to expect limited my willingess to push harder on the bike. Nutrition and lack of training were responsible for my poor effort on the run. Event comments: Aid stations were great on the bike and run. Tough course but not impossible. Will be back next year. Had a snickers marathon energy bar (~210 kcal), not as much as I would have liked but it went down and stayed down fairly well. Everything packed up the night before with no problems morning of the race. Got to transition a little later than planned d/t traffic.
Not a whole lot of time because by the time that my bike was racked and transition set up it was 30 minutes till my start time. Got a little run in (~3-4 min) and then got my wetsuit on. Very short swim before the first wave went in then time for my wave.
