Age Group Rank = 22/114
Pre-race routine:

Eating at about 5:40. Later - saying "Holy crap!! We aren't going to get there in time!" on the way to the parking lot. Traffic was backed up 2+ miles from the parking lot of the event. They actually started the race at 8am instead of 7:30 to allow people to arrive. So it wasn't on time, but this was a good thing.
Event warmup:

Jogging to the Port-a-johns. LOL!

Comments:

I learned that I can maintain a much higher HR for a lot longer than I thought I could.

I also learned that I hate running in gravel. Plus I got a blister.
What would you do differently?:

I would have a smoothie for b-fast. I get stomach cramps if I eat solid food before a run. I had hot cereal 90 minutes before, and had stomach cramps within a mile. Water does it too, but can't skip it so ???
Post race
Warm down:

Staggering over to get my chip removed, then off to the car for different shoes (and verify blister presence).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and stomach cramps. And that $%#@ gravel!!!

Event comments:

For next year they really need to have the aid station people better organized. Stopping to stand in line to try to pour your own drink with shaky hands and cups that stick together really SUCKS!!

Overall though, it was very enjoyable and we will probably do it again next year.

Performance: Good
Avg HR = 160, max HR 181, kcals burned 1822 I didn't get a lot of lap data. One mile was 8:18 so that's good. I never saw another marker after Mile 8, so that last lap was a LONG one.
Course: Very flat. The info said all asphalt, but there were two sections of gravel road. One of them was really long (most of the last mile) with some annoying little hill/rises. The last mile is tough enough without adding gravel and a couple small hills. I sprinted them and maxed out my HR. Some of the aid stations were very disorganized. They didn't have the water ready, so it was serve yourself (???) and stand in line to do it, with cups that wouldn't come apart. Lost probably 3+ minutes doing this overall. And then the gravel. Grrrr!
