Swim
Comments: The buoys looked a LOT farther out than I had expected. Drizzly morning, which was odd for end of July, but made for flatter water. I inhaled a bunch of water early on and started to panic, so flipped over on my back and gave myself one of many pep talks. Did most of swim sidestroke, backstroke, breast stroke. I was SO happy when I finished! What would you do differently?: RELAX! I need to practice crawl stroke and OWS much more to become more confident in the water. Transition 1
Comments: I was so euphoric after the swim that I didn't really care about a speedy transition. I dried myself off and put on socks and bike shoes. I'll work on a quicker T1 for next time. What would you do differently?: Run the WHOLE way to the transition area. Quicker shoes/socks on. Note to self: do not hang wetsuit on bar above running shoes! Bike
Comments: Super fun ride. It was a lot harder when I rode part of the course in preparation earlier in the week. Drizzly weather with a cross wind off the water made it interesting. This was my favorite part of the race. Fast, but not exhausting. What would you do differently?: Drink more water. Push harder?? Transition 2
Comments: Had a hard time racking bike without knocking neighbors stuff around (sorry neighbors!) took feet out of clips on way to line which totally threw me off.I did a good job running off of the bike though. Realized putting the wetsuit over my running shoes to dry was not in my best interests. Did a good job getting bike shoes/helmet off and running shoes/cap on. What would you do differently?: Practice getting feet out of clips, running off of bike Run
Comments: The run was physically most difficult part, as expected. I did a good job keeping a good pace and not getting flustered/pushing too hard when people passed me. What would you do differently?: Run more in preparation! Post race
Warm down: walked through finish area and stretched What limited your ability to perform faster: In order for a faster race next time I will need to do more swim and run training. I'd also like to improve T1 time. Event comments: Super fun race! I'm hooked :) Last updated: 2007-07-02 12:00 AM

Shower, bowl of cereal with banana. Red Bull. Drove to course early with hubby. Planned on plenty of time to set up transition area and warm up. Got overwhelmed by finding a spot on transition rack (there was a lot less room than I had envisioned!), finding out about a pre-race briefing, and running into my stepbrother. No time for w/u!
Not much!
