Swim
Comments: I never could find open water. It was a big wave start with multiple age groups and there was a lot of jostling. I couldn't get into a relaxed breathing pattern. What would you do differently?: Try to relax and find my zen a bit more. I expended more energy than I needed to. Transition 1
Comments: I haven't mastered putting the shoes on the bike and getting them on. So, I put the shoes on in transition. It's a looooong run from the water to transition, so even though my transition seems long, it was third fastest for my age group. What would you do differently?: Don't get flustered. My zipper stuck on my wetsuit (which I was trying to undo on that long run). Then, I couldn't clip my helmet. I think that was primarily because I was already a bit flustered about the zipper. Bike
Comments: My bike computer's cadence reading crapped out on me. So, I was just going on speed and exertion. It got a little crowded near the end and while I was trying hard not to draft, it was difficult to stay out of the crowd sometimes. The first 2/3 I was in pretty much open air. It's a great bike course. What would you do differently?: Remember to drink lots when it's really hot out. Transition 2
Comments: This was my first tri with the new bike, and the first time I tried to get my feet out of the shoes in a race. In went reasonably well. I had a bit of trouble re-racking the bike. What would you do differently?: I think I should have just racked by the brakes instead of trying to get the seat up there. Also, I need to learn to run without socks to save some extra time. Run
Comments: The run sucked, sucked, sucked. I had to walk several times because I was seriously overheating. I'm really surprised at the pace based on the amount of walking, and I wonder if it was really a full 5k. What would you do differently?: Train in the heat more. Do some bricks. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, shoved some ice down my shirt, drank LOTS of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training, the heat. Event comments: A good, fun, friendly small race. Definitely I'll do it again. Last updated: 2007-07-07 12:00 AM

Woke up too early and couldn't get back to sleep. So, got up and ate breakfast and showered and hit the road. Got there and got set up with no problems.
Did some stretching and swam a few strokes, but not much in the way of warmup
