Swim
Comments: Field size is getting so big that they gave us 2 waves. #1-150 went in the first wave and #151 and up went 5 mins later. Definitely helped squashwise but doesn't give you feedback on who is close to you race/time wise. Can't have it all I guess. What would you do differently?: Not much. Lined up on the far R. Takes me wide at the first buoy but seems to work and let me hit my rhythm more. Transition 1
Comments: Arrived at rack to find that someone had knocked a bike onto my bike and that they were both lying in a heap on my gear so had to rack both bikes before I could get changed. Probably only cost :10 - :15 or so but was a bit of a bummer. What would you do differently?: Rack bike somewhere else? Bike
Comments: Less traffic due to wave starts but still had to jokcey a bit for position into the single track sections. Couldn't get passed one teen going into one section and when I came up behind him he panicked and then stacked it so I had to get off and run. What would you do differently?: Not much. Worked a little to get out of saddle and back up to speed after the corners. Need to be alittle more aggressive/apply a little more power. Transition 2
Comments: Am getting more dialled at this. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: About 400 yds into run a woman comes up behind me and comes past saying "come on, come on, we can pick off 6 or 7 people". Seemed like a good idea to me but she was in her rhythm more than me (we were still on the uphill) so I let her go a bit. Then she was just ahead a bit for a mile or so as we did indeed pick people foff - I guess she was a good carrot for me. Into the last mile aI realised I was catching her and passed her with about 1/2? mile to go. She encouraged me but with 1/4 mile to go I could hear her footsteps behind me and I could hear her saying "come on, come on, catch her, pass her" (meaning me) It was quite funny. If she had just run by me I think I might have let her go but her pep rally kind of annoyed me so I decided to pick up the pace and see how long I could stay ahead of her. Into the home stretch I got by one more guy who I thought might make it harder for her to come past me and I stayed ahead of her to the finish! Nice - v. happy with that effort. What would you do differently?: Not much. Maybe work a little harder on the first uphill part? Post race
Warm down: Cleared up stuff. Went in the lake. Stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training overall and bikes being dumped on my stuff but generally please - was only :20 or so off last week's time. Seem to be in a groove for ~ 1:01 on this course. Still would like to go sub 1 hr so might have to crack out the wetsuit for next week. Event comments: I am getting bored with the course although it really does let you experiement and get quick feedback week-to-week on stuff. Was nice to have 2 waves. Wonder if they'd ever run the bike and run courses backwards just for a different view of the trails? Last updated: 2007-07-11 12:00 AM

Had the luxury of the day off. Drove up with plenty of time.
Swim w/u - ~300yds - I like this - it is sort of calming and preparatory at the same time.
