Run
Comments: We went out feeling pretty good, even though we had to hurdle the tall weeds and grass to run to the start. There were supposed to be 3 minute times between when they started each waves, but they started them at about 30 seconds apart. We really weren't prepared to start teh race. We were certainly not in-it-to-win-it. It was fun just being in costume. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: We got rid of the hats and flashy neck-gear, but we weren't really in a hurry. What would you do differently?: Nothing except for remember to put my nutrition into my back pocket. Bike
Comments: I don't think I would have done as well if Laurie hadn't been ahead of me. I don't know why I didn't feel very well during the race. Regardless of how I felt on the bike, it was a PR for me on bike speed in a race. It was fun to see everyone out on the course. What would you do differently?: Have a little nutrition and drink more. Transition 2
Comments: I wasn't real excited about going out for the run, so I really didn't feel like hurrying in T2. What would you do differently?: REMEMBER some type of nutrition. Run
Comments: I felt horrible on the run. I think Laurie should have left my butt behind, because I felt like crap. The only thing I can think of is that I had nothing throughout the whole race except for a few sips of water on my bike. It was fun though. We got a lot of Disco comments throughout the entire run. The one thing that shocked me was that on the way in, Laurie and I were just trying to catch our breath and all of the sudden I felt a big slap on the rear end. I turned expecting to see my husband (and I realized Laurie got a slap on her rear too) and see Aaron (Jeepfleeb). We were both pretty amazed since he is usually so focused he doesn't even look at you if you cheer him on!!! That got us moving, and we finished the race much faster after that. What would you do differently?: Drink more and have some nutrition. Post race
Warm down: We finished the race together (even though Laurie won by a second) and got some vitamin water and some watermelon. We stood around and talked to all the BT gang and cheered everyone else in. Laurie and I both got hardware, so that was fun. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really....just having fun Event comments: Don't know if I'll do this race again. I would love to because I loved dressing up, but it just seemed really disorganized and expensive. I really wish there had been more port-a-pottys and I wish the shirts would have been better. I like the DA hats, but we have 6 now and that is more than enough. We got some great pics of everyone: http://www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=327687d7aee1bee9adccab&skin_id... Got up at 3:50 am....ugh!!! Had some breakfast, drank my 5 hour energy drink (it was really early), loaded the car, and left. Laurie and I had decided on costumes, so I was fully prepared in Disco gear. We left the house at 4:30, and got there a little after 5:15. I was pretty upset when I got to the race and realized Laurie didn't have her helmet. I just didn't want to do the entire race dressed in Disco gear by myself. When she found a helmet I was really happy!!!
There wasn't much to do for a warmup because I spent too much time in line for the bathrooms.
