Pre-race routine:

Honey Wheat English Muffin with Olive Oil at 5:15; Arrived at 5:45 - set up transition; In wetsuit around 6:20
Event warmup:

Planned to swim a bit to warm up but had to fix goggle strap. Ugh.
Swim
  • 16m
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

No splits in this race. Started out and continued well paced swim - not too fast. Didn't over exert - tried to use long efficient strokes and sighted with some breast stroke along the way. Never really went all out.
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed a bit more - warm-up more next time.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Need to master getting into shoes while they're in the pedals. Good transition. Took one more GU at start of bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not fall on my butt taking of wetsuit - overall good. Toyed with idea of no socks. Glad I put them on - didn't lose much time at all and no blisters.
Bike
  • 48m
  • 15 miles
  • 18.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good bike. Thighs have been a bit dead on training runs - not that bad here.
Transition 2
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Fast transition. Used pull string laces.
What would you do differently?:

Not much - good one here. Had to reach over to backpack to get my hat - next time put on towel. Tuck in lace strings so they don't bounce up and hit my shins - annoying.
Run
  • 22m
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit. Gatorade and water. Went back to wait for my wife who finished a bit behind me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I trained about 81.5% of my training plan up to the race (vs. 86.5% last year). Made life easier and didn't lose much on the course. Most of my time increase (I think) is attributable to a longer swim course this year.

Event comments:

Post-Race not as good this year - No banana bread! Beautiful spot and morning though.
