Swim
Comments: Good swim. Course seemed a bit short. Focused on relaxing to my body/big muscles didn't tense up. Result was a good swim pace without too much effort. Really pleased. What would you do differently?: Work on sighting (tough) - swim out was directly into the sun. Definitely happy I purchased tinted goggles. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good transition but slow relative to the field (383/846). Had clipped shoes into pedals, which worked well (must remember to keep both pedals level after I break one rubber band. Almost lost left shoe when it dangled and hit the road a bit. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Bike
Comments: Pretty good bike ride. Handled Riversville and Claire's Climb pretty well. Used third ring early on both. Got passed a bunch though. What would you do differently?: Ride more in off-season. New bike? Transition 2
Comments: T2 - for whatever reason is my nemisis. This time the bike fell when I incorrectly put bike seat on bar using back of seat instead of front of seat. Then I ran off without my race belt and had to return - probably 40 secs there. Oops. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Run
Comments: Good run. Used small strides coming out of T2 onto boardwalk. Felt slow but Garmin had me at 7:40 pace for Mile 1. Sun was hot in places. Saved a bit for push through the park. Overall good. Post race
Warm down: Found family; drank water and gatorade. Bagel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Definitely got tired on last couple of miles. Event comments: Great race. Bit of a slip-up at start when far orange buoy had to be re-positioned after it floated a way to the right. Well organized and very festive atmosphere. Last updated: 2007-07-14 12:00 AM

Awoke at 4:45. Shaved the previous night (so I don't put a hole in my wetsuit) - quick shower. Whole wheat english muffin w/ olive oil and Vitamin C water mixed drink. Arrived at Playland at 5:20.
Set up transition. Talked a bit. Felt pretty calm. Check out swim course. At 3/4 PowerBar (Vanilla Crisp) and then had 1 Gu about 45 mins before swim. Got in the water and swam maybe 75 yards. We were delayed due to buoy re-positioning. Did some on-land warm-up drills: single arm windmills back and forward; tricep stretch; lower back stretch; jumping jacks to try to get heart rate up a bit before the swim.
