Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:00 and has some granola with yogurt and a large coffee. Packed up and out of the house by 4:45. Arrived on site at 6:00 AM. Got my packet and set up transition. Met up with a friend from work and took care of business.
Event warmup:

Nothing really, there was a lot of waiting around b/c the Oly went off first and then our start was delayed by a few minutes.
Swim
  • 22m 6s
  • 686 meters
  • 03m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

I didn't expect a good swim since I haven't really put much time in the pool this summer, but this was bad. I could feel my shoulders getting fatigued rather early on which was not a good sign. I did an ok job of getting into a rythym and finding a stroke but I would end up off course and the correction would nulify and decent progress.
What would you do differently?:

Same thing I said last time...more time in the pool.
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

T1 went fine.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 45m 34s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 16.46 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was bit hillier than I anticipated but it was fun. The climb out of the park is rough just after the swim but once I was out on the main road, I felt really good. Course was closed to traffic which made it nice.

I lost my chain just before one of the climbs so that cost me some time.
What would you do differently?:

Get my crank and front derailluer fixed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

This went fine. Elastic laces for the running shoes helped.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 29m 2s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt sluggish at the beginning but got better as the run went along. I pushed the pace for the last mile and felt pretty good coming in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

pizza, grapes, and a bananna.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Time in the pool and on the bike.

Event comments:

While I had some complaints, overall the race was fun and the park is beautiful. Undecided if I'll do it again.
