Comments: Ended up back to my stand by breast stroke for most of the swim. Need to get the rythm going for the freestyle. What would you do differently?: Freestyle ![]() Transition 1
Comments: No separate timing for transitions at this race, so the transition time is included in the bike portion for both transitions. Was a little slow getting into the bike shoes and getting the shirt on. What would you do differently?: Practice bike shoes. ![]() Bike
Comments: Felt ok, was a good course. Lost my water bottle on the fourth loop. Could have pushed harder though. What would you do differently?: Pushed harder, especially as it was flat. Maybe change gears a few times. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Could have done better because I had to reset my Garmin to running pace. What would you do differently?: Don't worry about using the Garmin ![]() Run
Comments: Slow run. Was finding it hard to start. Maybe the race yesterday took more out of me than I thought? What would you do differently?: Practice bricks more ![]() Post race
Warm down: Wandered the venue and then drove home. Looked like rain was coming, so wanted to get home before it came down, which I managed to do. What limited your ability to perform faster: Practice and training with the freestyle and the bricks. Event comments: Will consider doing this again next year. It is a great venue and a fun race. Was up at 5:30 and left the house at 6am. Stopped for a coffee at the local Tim Hortons and ate my Bagel with Peanut Butter on the drive up to Barrie. It was said on the race site that the transition would close at 8am, even though the age group race would not start until 9:30, so was better to be there early. Arrived at the site at about 7:10am and registered, got my bib and racked my bike. Racks were set up with specific spots by your bib number. They ended up not closing the transition at all.
Spent the rest of the time just wandering the site and watching the KOS races.
Got my wetsuit on about 15 minutes before my wave (which started at about 10am).
Put my big toe into the water to test the temp (was cool up refreshing).
