Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:30. Coffee, oatmeal, packed up, left at 5:30 (much to late)
Event warmup:

Unintended warm-up: 1.5 mile fast walk to the transition area since traffic was TERRIBLE. Flew to set up, used the port-o-potties and another uninented 1.2 mile run to the swim start.

Comments:

Totally late to the swim start. I was still 50 yards out from the corral as they are anouncing 30 sec. until the red caps start. As they are announcing 3,2,1...I'm putting on the second half of my wetsuit, cap and goggles and probably lost a good minute because of that.

The rest of the swim went great. I swam a bit off course, but got back on track and loved every minute of the calm, clear water.

Comments:

The first part of the bike course was great. There were 2 large hills that I used the small chain for, and a few stretches of rough pavement, but in general it was a great course. I was doing awesome until my bike chain fell off at mile 51, lost a couple minutes, but was so lucky that a sag wagon came up immediately and put it back on for me. I slowed down after mile 43.

Pretty flat, except the initial hill at mile 1, which I walked up. I got more tired than I expected out there. The last two miles felt so far.
