Run
Comments: we ran the first 3-4 at ~10:00/miles and kept running except for a few hills for most of the first half. we actually hit the halfway mark just under 11:00/miles including a long bathroom stop. at that point the hills and no training took it's toll on craig and we walked/ran it in from there. i told him that i didn't care what our pace was as long as he stayed upbeat and he held up his end of the bargain. we had a ton of fun laughing at people, talking, and just screwing around. i ate whatever i wanted (~6 gu, a donut hole, 2/3 of a beer, freeze pop, banana, gummy bears, and potato chips) and pretty much goofed off for the whole time. lots of fun and nice not being so sore that i can't enjoy the rest of the weekend. What would you do differently?: nothing. it went perfectly. although i think i now have the biggest discrepancy between fastest and slowest half and full marathons ever (full: 2:24:28 half: 1:08:20)! Post race
Warm down: watched larry the lighthouse finish. then we walked back to the hotel to clean up before a great evening of beers, sushi at the market, duckpin bowling, and late night milkshakes and cheese fries. do days get any better than that? Event comments: great race. decent expo and course. good aid stations all the way. great shirt and medal. also good options with a 5k, half, relay, and full. if you can handle some hills i would recommend it. craig cpjohnson decided to run the baltimore marathon and i thought it sounded like a good idea. it was really just an excuse to meet him, amy, and their new son ben in baltimore. that city is awesome and we hadn't been back in a while. craig hadn't trained at all and i signed up for the philly marathon just 5 weeks later, so we were going to enjoy ourselves and use it as a catered tour of the city.
we stayed at the day's inn. it was a great spot just a few blocks from the start, so we could roll out of bed, say goodbye to k and amy (they were running the 1/2 marathon that started later) and head over just in time for the start. couldn't have timed it better.
