Overall Rank = 2536/3496

Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15am and drove down to Qwest field with my husband to catch the shuttle bus. It was raining pretty hard by now and the driver got lost on the way to the start. Finally found our way, Len went to the volunteer tent and I went to set up my area.
Swim
  • 25h 02m
  • 660 yards
  • 3h 47m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Sally Edwards gave each wave a mantra to keep our mind from panic, and it worked. I really had fun on the swim, it was crowded and I kicked a couple of people and then didn't swim as flat as I should, but I didn't have too much trouble sighting and it was over faster than I thought it would be.
What would you do differently?:

Work of getting faster, keep good form, don't worry about crowd.
Transition 1
  • 05m 47s
Comments:

The transition was messy from the rain, and everything was still in my bag to keep the rain out of my shoes, took time to put on gloves for bike control, didn't run from water to bike because ground was rough.
What would you do differently?:

Lay out area, move faster
Bike
  • 46h 32m
  • 12.4 miles
  • 0.27 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike ride was fun, it was raining but I wasn't too cold. There was a mandatory walk up and down the on ramp to freeway bridge because of slick conditions. The tunnel was dry and warm so that was a good break, but a cold gust of wind hit us as we came out.
Transition 2
  • 03m 59s
Comments:

Walked my bike back to rack, had to dig running shoes out of bag. Forgot my inhaler.
What would you do differently?:

Run bike, have better layout at rack.
Run
  • 43h 33m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 14h 02m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Steady rain the whole way, walked fast, jogged a bit. was comfortable the whole way. Ate two shot blocks.
What would you do differently?:

Work up to jogging more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around with family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inablilty to run, need to work up to it again.

Event comments:

Great race, lots of support and volunteers, support in the water was top notch, good bike security, good water stations.
