Pre-race routine:

Up very early with Doug and drove to find a convenience store on the way. We drank our coffee and ate a little and found the shuttle site for the race. Checked in and inpected a bunch of different port-o-potties/restrooms. I had three shot bloks (salty margarita flavor) and a slug of water.
Event warmup:

We looked for corrals and there weren't any, but then about 3 minutes before the race, some volunteers showed up with numbered signs....but everyone was already too crowded in the race zone to get to the right spot...so we just stayed where we were until the gun. Quick kiss goodbye and I stayed in back with my peeps (retirees and pregnant women) and Doug took off to find the fast people.

Comments:

Ugh. I forgot my watch, so my normal run 10/walk 1 was a bit more subjective. I used the songs on my iPod, instead...run four songs, walk 70 paces (which equals one minute). But I have long songs, so for the first three miles, I was running a mile, walking a minute. Then I started to slow down. I couldn't find a comfort zone and my heartrate seemed high. By mile 7 I was done. I wanted to just walk the course. I have NEVER wanted to quit a race before. But I actually thought about Pirate Girl and her hellacious IM bike ride, and I chastised my wimpy self into finishing. I was proud that I kept going, and pushing harder than I've probably ever pushed. I did not want to have my 1/2 mary time go past 3 hours...embarassing. My Shamrock time was 2:54 and I spent 10 of that in the port o potties, so I needed to keep pushing.

I felt nausious by mile 8 and G8R'd (threw-up)at mile 12. I usually just take 6 shot bloks for an entire long run, for some reason this time I took 9 and I think that's what made me sick. That and I was VERY hot and my hr would not stay down.

I got a little bit emotional towards the end...they had all of the pics of the TNT kids on the course and I started getting teary seeing all of them...it was a tough race mentally. Mentally and physically.
What would you do differently?:

Not go to Mellow Mushroom and have beer (just 2!) the night before. Lose more weight, train more. Unscrew my butt and pull it in a wagon...I'd be faster that way.
Post race
Warm down:

More port-o-potties. Changed clothes and stretched a bit while I waited to see Doug (Captantony) finish his 26.2.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ugh, see above.

Event comments:

Lots of volunteers, a good bit of confusion getting to the course...not a great start/lack of corrals. Pretty course, but virtually no spectators...and I gots to have me some clapping. A high five from a four year old was about all I got. Oh, and I got to see my honey on a switchback about mile 5 (his mile 7). That was a bright spot. :)
