Swim
Comments: The water was very choppy and I drank a ton of salt water. This was nothing like last week (HIM) where the water was like glass. I think I would have done a bit better had there been less choppiness, but so would everyone else. I think I did well considering the conditions. Transition 1
Comments: Fast T1. The swim time included the run up the beach. Bike
Comments: This was a lot of fun for me because I know these roads so well. I have run and biked on these roads all summer. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Great run for me. This was a very fast time for me and I am very pleased with my time and effort. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I did a Half IronMan the week before. Event comments: The only reason why I gave it a 3 is because I think they have some kinks to work out after their first year. I already mentioned the swim. The bike ride was a bit confusing with having to stay left at some places which in retrospect makes some sense and they only gave away water at the aid stations (no Gatorade). That being said, it was a great race and very well organized for a first time event. The goody bag is awesome... complete with a hoodie and great drawstring bag. Some of the other organizers could learn a thing or two about give-aways from this guy. Last updated: 2007-08-27 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:45 and got to the race sight early enough for packet pick-up and to set up my transition area. I had a lot of time to spare after I was done so I walked around bit and tried to figure out the swim course. I got to meet up with Tim, we chatted a while and then I spoke to a lifeguard friend of mine and one of my former students.
A little swimming.
