Run
Comments: MAJOR knee injury during Mile 8. By Mile 11 I was eating pain meds like pretzels. Miles 24 & 25 were gruelingly painful hobbling side to side uphill on Allen Parkway. Finish line in sight, bike medic hopped off her bike and paced me through the chute to finish. :) <----my first marathon, and no, I didn't train hardly at all...thus...the injury. What would you do differently?: TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!!!! Post race
Warm down: Passed out cold for two hours, ate a very light dinner, iced down my injured knee for four days. What limited your ability to perform faster: My knee injury and my failure to train properly. Event comments: I was so excited about this race, it was my first marathon. I felt the few miles I put in weekly would be enough since running has always come easy for me. But, I didn't anticipate my body suffering a knee injury. Finishing was VERY emotional. Even through the pain, I couldn't wait to do another one! Last updated: 2007-08-31 12:00 AM
