Comments:

My swim wave was number 6 out 9 for the sprint. Start was a tread start amongst the tangly hydrilla...I felt this creepy plant wrap around me while waiting for the start...GROSS! Then the horn blarred and we sloshed around with plant pieces everywhere. About 100 meters in, the plant was gone and swam with everyone...alot of kicking. I felt really calm and relaxed and freestyled it the whole way. It was a very good swim for me.

Comments:

Ride started out well. Drank half of red bull and chomped down on some cliff blocks. Passed a bunch of people. At around mile 7 or 8, I was passing a guy who right before I passed him had chain problems and I think his chain jammed and he swerved right in front of me and wrecked. I swerved and overcorrected and went over the handlebars. YES, MY FIRST WRECK IN A RACE! My helmet hit the pavement pretty hard. Immediately a motorcycle stopped and asked if we were ok...He asked if I blacked out, was dizzy or was seeing stars...Nope still see a bunch of bikers out here. My knees were scrapped up, head had a bump (had a slight headache), elbow and shoulder was bruised. I said I'm ok and could go on. I helped the other guy get his chain back on....

Game on...at this point, I decided not to push it. Stay aware of how I was feeling in case I like had a concussion or something. Was I gonna puke at any moment? After another mile or two I felt a little better and knew I could finish out the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Ummm...like not crash???????????????????
Transition 2
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

A little shaky coming off the bike. I took the helmet off and saw that there were two deep indentations from where I hit the pavement....dang glad I had that on..drank water and it immediately came out of my nose...and thought ok, that's not normal...did I break like some sort of passage way????
What would you do differently?:

nothing really

Comments:

Well, since I still had a headache I didn't want to over do it...Hell, I just wanted to finish it today..so I ran some and walked some. Didn't want to pass out and visit medical...
What would you do differently?:

Wished I could have pulled out a faster run...
