Run
Comments: Ran with my IM buddy Dave C. We did IMWI a month ago and were doing TCM 'for fun'. We both wore IM finisher garb so it was fun to get recognized by folks that know what am M Dot logo is. We didn't really know how much fun it'd be in the heat/humity. Of course we haven't run anything over 8 miles since IM so we didn't really know what to expect. He locked his GPS into ~9 min miles and we held there till about mi 13. The rough part was that my HR was about 20 pbm over normal for that pace. I parted ways with Dave at about mi 13.5 Pounded endurolytes/gel and as much water at the aid stations as my body would handle. Highlights: Run/walking with all sorts of injured folks. Too funny. Kinda tells you what pace I was going at today. We ran into a guy names Hans from Germany who is running IM Florida next month. I hope TCM didn't hurt his prospects for his first IM finish. An ambulance came down the road right at the runners to pick up a runner who had crashed in the heat. Emergency personnel had their hands full today! This was the first marathon that I seriously thought I wouldn't be able to finish. Legs were just toast and started cramping in the 22+ mile area. Made some pretty decent decisions to walk/hydrate and hit the electroytes to manage to stumble home. This was a really tough run. What would you do differently?: Prolly not run a full marathon quite so soon post IM Post race
Warm down: Hit the chicken broth pretty hard after the race. My sweet wife also had some flat coke for me to sip on. What limited your ability to perform faster: 80 degrees, sunny, windy, 69 degree dewpoint. IMWI Event comments: This race is very well run and had a TON of volunteers at all the aid stations as well as EMS sites. Love it. Last updated: 2007-09-14 12:00 AM
