Swim
Comments: I suck at swimming. I was way over hyped at the biggining. Tried to catch my breath at about 200m by turning over on my back. It didn't help much. Finally settled down. I suck at sighting. Was doing dolphin dives a lot on the front straight as it was pretty swallow. What would you do differently?: Need to start slower? Or at least control my breathing. Need to site more. Transition 1
Comments: Had a little trouble getting off suit. Not as bad as I thought it would be. looks like t1 time was 80/182. Room for improvement for sure. What would you do differently?: practice getting off suit and gearing up. Bike
Comments: Damn it!!! I dropped my chaing going up the first hill. I couldn't believe it. I think it was the first time I have dropped a chain ever. I shouldn't have even shifted in my granny gear. I got the chain back on pretty quickly but then couldn't get clipped back in going up the hill. Should have went side ways on the hill to get clipped back in or down a little. Instead I ran like 150 yards up it. I bet I lost 1~2 mins. Still I was doing pretty well, feeling strong, and passing tons of people. What would you do differently?: Make sure my bike is in better condition. I have had trouble shifting for the last couple of weeks but I thought it would be fine for one more event. Well it wasn't. Transition 2
Comments: T2 seemed a little slow. had a bad rack position. was 68/182. I could save a few seconds off of this one What would you do differently?: I'll have to practice jumping off and on the bike if I want to get where I want to be. Run
Comments: I'm getting better. Sub 9min/mile is great for me stand alone so I'm pleased. Still lots of room for improvement. I even passed some people! What would you do differently?: Just keep on my training. I felt that I pushed as hard as I could unlike my first. I had a nice push the last mile and even harder the last 1/4 mile. Post race
Warm down: walked around and got my food. Watched the half folks(TW) on thier bike leg What limited your ability to perform faster: training/weight. This was my second race and only been training for about 10 weeks. I have lost ~20 pounds since I began training and ~10 since my first race. Still have ~30 pounds more to go. I plan to hit the training hard this winter. From the splits, I can see that the swim and run is where I can pick up some time. Goal for next year....top 10%. Event comments: This was a much better event than Lorain(timming chip) and the goodies were great. I would do this race again. Last updated: 2007-09-19 12:00 AM

had breakfast around 5:30. BP sandwich, banana, and juice. Had a cliff bar on the way to the race at about 7:00. Pick-up our packet, body marked, and squared my bike away.
Rode my bike about a mile and jogged a little.
