Run
Comments: My first 10K ever. I was freezing before the start, but luckily snagged some gloves which kept my hands warm until my entire body warmed up after about a mile and a half. I was doing just fine - at the 5K, I was holding about a 10 minute mile pace. Feeling good until about mile 4.5. Then my knee started to act up - and really started to hurt. So I took a few brief walk breaks to try to ease it. I had forgotten my little patellar tendon strap this morning - dammit. That thing is a miracle worker, but I don't always run with it, so I figured I'd be fine. I don't think the cold damp weather helped, though, even though I was warm from running. I ran as much as I possibly could after that point, but I had to slow down. What would you do differently?: Um, not have my knee hurt! I was on track to finish in about an hour otherwise, which was my goal. Post race
Warm down: Walked around - got cold again :( Got some cookies. Walked to TahoeSteve's car and then drove to Crystal City to get brunch with the rest of the NoVA/MD BT crew. Red Team lost, but not by much and the Red Team men beat the Green Team men ;) What limited your ability to perform faster: My stupid knee. I really was doing just fine beforehand. Event comments: Fun little race, even in the rain - too bad the end sucked for me. Last updated: 2007-10-15 12:00 AM
