Swim
Comments: Extremely stong swim for me. I was glad I went with the wet suit. The swim out to the first buoy was tough, really big breakers that I just tried to swim under. Judged the drift perfect and turned right on the buoy. As soon as I passed the first buoy, I found friendly feet and drafted off of 2 different guys all the way to the turn buoy. I am guessing the swim was probably 600 but who knows. Really great swim for me. Transition 1
Comments: Fair transition, taking off wetsuit without strippers is not easy. Bike
Comments: Fun day on the bike. We had a rare wind, it was mostly cross but out of the northwest. That meant the ride home was faster than the ride out. That rarely happens here. I felt good and the bike was over quick. Passed 60 bikes and got passed by 3. Only mistake was that I slowed to early at the turn around. Some yahoo comes by and zips around me as we are making the turn. No big deal. My bridge climbing was not good, but I haven't done much work so I was not surprised. My seat felt crooked. I gotta check that next ride. Transition 2
Comments: Okay, lack of racing made these a little sloppy but no serious issues. Run
Comments: Really good run, temp was great and it took me a minute to get legs but very happy with pace. I was only 34 seconds off my stand alone run time on this course in December. When I made the turn under the bridge, I saw my friend worm on the other side. I have never been ahead of him at this point in a race and I thought he was already ahead of me. I really wanted to beat him but he actually caught me at the finish, nipping me by 4 seconds. I could feel him behind and looked back a couple of times. I shouldn't have done that. Worm was the original triathlete of our group and I can't believe I got this close and didn't deliver. What would you do differently?: Beat Worm!!!! Really a good race for me. Post race
Warm down: I went and put everything in the car, then went back and watched a bunch of folks come in. What limited your ability to perform faster: The bridges were tough but I raced at the top end of where my training is. Event comments: This is my favorite race. I think they improved on a couple of things and its still not a tight ship but hey, its a bar putting on a race okay. Hung with friends and drank alot of beer. Enjoyed meating the rock star Marvarnet and his mullet heads and was also very happy to see J D Wright complete his first race. Last updated: 2007-11-26 12:00 AM

Get up at 4:30, waffles for breakfast. Pack the car and walk the dog. Drove 25 minutes to the race site and set up. Its open racking so moved the bike until I was happy with my spot. Saw bunches of friends and did the normal prerace chatter. Debated on wetsuit and decided to go with it today.
Talked to a couple of super hero bt'ers (marvarnet and jdwright). Dan had his mullet ready to race.
Put wetsuit on backwards and walked around till I figured out it was backwards (duh). Jumped in the water to get the cold shock done before the race.
