Pre-race routine:

I arrived later than I wanted to the race, I went there the night before and scouted out the transition area, but was unable to get there before they had closed some of the roads. So I ended up getting all of my stuff and getting on my bike about 2 miles away from the beach and I rode in, my girlfriend took my car to the parking area.
Event warmup:

I got into my wetsuit and went down to beach to streach and swim a bit. I went out to the first buoy and back as a warm up.

Although it left me winded, I performed a lot better at the swim than I thought I would. When I finished I looked back and could still see a lot of swimmers, even some from a wave before me!!
What would you do differently?:

Pace myself a bit more. I think I was so excited for my first triathlon thatn I sprinted out of the start and was fairly tired by aprox. 1/3 of the swim. For the rest I went much slower than my average pace.

was probably the longest 12.5 miles I've riden... very technical, very tough after swim. Should have practiced swim/bike bricks more.

Wow... one of the worst runs ever! I really need to do brick workouts, the couple of times I ran following a bike workout I really hurt, why I thought I would do better in the race, I don't know. This is really an area for improvement.
What would you do differently?:

practice running after a bike workout.

Warm down:

walked around trying to heal my fatigued mascles, getting a lot of vitamin water and some food from the booths.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't train enough or in the right way.

This was a good race,I wish I would have tained better, maybe I would have done better.
