Swim
Comments: Long run in the water to find a spot to start swimming, could feel my legs working hard so didn't try too hard to keep up with anyone. When we were finaly swimming it was a tough tough swim, the water was calm, but I have never had so much contact in a swim before, lots of elbos and fists and feet flying around, only managed bits of comfy swimming at a time. Hard work around the first bouy, then it seemed to thin out a bit, and had it easy to the next bouy...then it was hard work all the way in to shore for me...I can only greath on my left side, and every breath I took the wind would blow the chop and spray right into my mouth, felt sick and swallowed about 2L of salt water, struggled through thou and came out of the water feeling ok, but abit tiered. Looked down to see my time and realised I had forgotten to start my watch...bugger, saw what looked like plenty of people in front of me so figgured it was just another average swim and I would be close to last out...I was amazed when I got to transition to find it was still FULL...Even more amazed when I saw the results and found that I was 12th in my age group out of 40...still can't beleive it, very happy thou! What would you do differently?: Other than remember to start my watch...I have to learn to breath on both sides, will have to talk to my coach about swimming coaching? Didn't feel like I had done anything special in this swim, but it is the first time I have averaged under 2min/100 in a race so what ever I did I have to try and do it again! Transition 1
Comments: Good transition, but did take a bit of time getting race number belt on and gells in my pocket, have to figure a better way of doing that. Had my shoes on the bike again and it worked really well, overtook about three people at the bike start while the fumbled trying to get on the bike. What would you do differently?: Work on setting up race belt and a better spot for my gell than my back pocket Bike
Comments: Was a slow ride for me really, rode in bursts today, sometimes i thought ok push it i'm feeling good, other times it was just a sunday morning ride, not consistant. What would you do differently?: Consentrate thoughout the whole ride. Push hard. Transition 2
Comments: Fairly good transition, was pretty quick really, leaving the shoes on the bike makes a big difference. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The run let me down today...was in a good rythem, but it was just too slow, felt good in patches and rubbish in others. Heading for the end after the last turn I got frustrated with myself and thought bugger it, I am going to run as hard as I can to the finnish line, if you feal crap bad luck, it will be over in 5 mins...it sort of worked, but I know if I could get my head right I could run alot faster. What would you do differently?: Everything!...I have lots of work to do on my running, hopefully thats one area a coach can help! Post race
Warm down: Ate fruit and drank water, did some streching What limited your ability to perform faster: The run... But I was 11th in my age group, never thought I would finnish that high, so I guess I am happy with where I am at the moment. Event comments: These guys always run a good race and other than the run length this was great. Last updated: 2007-12-09 12:00 AM
