Run
Comments: Very motivational run with all the diabled vets and military runners around you. Unfortunately, the heat really hit everyone pretty hard. Humidity was high too, with full sun by the time that I was finishing. Post race
Warm down: Lots of water and post chip corral stretch. Wrang out shirt and felt sorry for everyone on Metro that was not a runner. We smelled! What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat and humidity hit pretty hard. Took two walk breaks in the sun to cool down. My electrolyte replacement was nowhere near where it needed to be and I was hurting for a few days afterwards. Had problems absorbing nutrients and couldn't figure out what I was missing. Event comments: Glad to be done when I did before they ran out of water at the end. The water stations at the end did not move up as they ran out. About a quarter-mile after the finish line before I was able to get a bottle. Cattle lines were pretty crowded at the end/chip collection area as well. Only two volunteers to hand out 10,000 finisher coins. My legs were cramping from standing in this line alone. Overall organization for the year with the heat and humidity needed work. Hot, hot, hot. Took Metro in on blue line. Lines to Porta-Johns too long prior to race start.
Jogged to starting line from Pentagon Metro and light stretch.
