Pre-race routine:

Ate a bagel with peanut butter and a banana. Had to stop and get a Diet Coke to drink on the way. All out at home.
Event warmup:

Arrived way too early. Sat in my car for about 25 minutes before deciding it was time to head out. Ran into Sal when I arrived. Chatted for just a few minutes but had to use the bathroom so I made my way to the port-a-potties. Afterward, I searched for my brother since he had picked up my race number and chip. I was a little concerned I might not be able to find him. We planned to meet inside the shelter area, so did 2,000 other people. I decided to just wait outside for him. Found him just after 9:00. Looked again for Sal to see if he wanted to run together since my brother was only running the 5K. No luck finding him.

Comments:

I had a great time going the first 3 miles; 7:30 minute mile and a 5K time of 23:30. The last couple of miles, I could feel myself slowing a bit, although I held to a over 7:44 mile. When I run with my brother, he definately pushes me beyond what I do by myself. I tried to talk him into running the 10K with me but he's doing the Winter Be Gone Du, should be more like Welcome Back Winter Du
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Usually my brother and I like to hang out and watch other runners come in but with the strong winds, cold temperatures, and being full of sweat, we said goodbye and we went our separate ways.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind, pelting snow for awhile.

Event comments:

My brother Scott did great (5K 22:30 7:15 mile). So proud of you brother.
