Swim
Comments: I submitted a swim time of 7:50, so I was close. I caught 3 or 4 people and didn't get passed. Started slower this week and concentrated on staying smooth in the water. Swam 8:24 last year, so I'm happy with this imporvement. What would you do differently?: Keep getting in the pool on a consistant basis. I still have a lot of room to improve here, I think. Transition 1
Comments: Under 1 minute and I didn't forget anything. I did take the time to put my HR watch on. Bike
Comments: 38:35 here last year. Pushed pretty good on the bike. Passed a lot of people, and gave encouragement to most. Didn't get passed. Crosswind going out, small section with the wind, small section straight into the wind, then crosswind on the way back in. What would you do differently?: Getting out in the wind the 2 days before the race was good to get used to riding in the wind. Continue getting used to my bike and more focused and detailed bike workouts. Transition 2
Comments: Ran past my rack. Rolled socks this time and this seemed to be quicker and easier. Ate 1 gel with water. What would you do differently?: Not run past my rack. Run
Comments: 26:32 last year. My PR standalone 5k is 22:45, so this one at 22:50, I am very happy with. Felt good and strong on the run. HR was higher and was more in line with my effort this week over last. Only got passed once. What would you do differently?: I don't know, I'm pretty happy with this at this point in my triathlon "career". Post race
Warm down: Finished and hurried over to catch my Stepdad in T2. What limited your ability to perform faster: No excuses, but not tapering. I kept up my IM training right up and through the past 2 race days. One of the times that beat mine was a team, so I'm counting finishing 24th instead of 25th. Event comments: Very well organized. Flat course. Nice volunteers and participants. Last updated: 2008-01-08 12:00 AM

Helped my daughter with her kid's tri in the morning. Got everything ready. Ate Clif Bar about 1-1/2 hrs before and 1 gel about 30 min before start.
Swam a couple of laps about 45 min before my start. Helped my Stepdad get ready for his 1st tri.
