Run
Comments: Great first marathon! Ran based on hr with a goal of negative splits each 10k. Started out ~10min miles, got down to ~8:15 or so until about mile 23, when I dropped back to >9:30 miles. Other than foot soreness from the concrete and a nagging hip flexor pull, everything felt great. Hydration and nutrition seemed spot-on. What would you do differently?: Not much. Everything went according to plan. Pay more attention to the spectators-turns out I missed George H.W. Bush! Post race
Warm down: Straggle through food line, bypassed everything & went to Starbucks. Met up with my wife and friends What limited your ability to perform faster: I just started running a few months ago, so long-term training. Event comments: My only critique of the race was the post-race food. Even though I was a reasonably early 26.2 finisher, all the fruit was gone by the time I got there, and all they had was greasy breakfast food (sausage, eggs, gravy, etc.). Woke up, ate 2 chocolate fudge poptarts, got dressed & walked to the start.
Just tried to stay calm. Otherwise, none.
