Swim
Comments: My OWS always sucks. Everyone said the course was long. Probably was, but still, I had a really crappy swim. I kept going wide right. Swim goal was sub 50. Didn't do that. What would you do differently?: No clue. I practice lots and get no faster in OW. Transition 1
Comments: Seemed way longer than 2:48. I had to run to the end of the transition area, and then back to the bike exit. Skipped my arm coolers because of the clouds which probably saved me 30 seconds. They're hard to get on wet arms. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: I had a good bike! I was happy with my time. First lap was 1:29, and I was hoping to break 3 hours, but still was happy with this. My goal was 3:15, so I crushed that. The hairpin turn-around was a fiasco. On my first lap, the woman 2 people ahead of me stopped and unclipped. On the 2nd lap, the person 2 people ahead of me took it REALLY slow and the guy in front of me yelled at her and we all almost had an accident. That road is narrow! Hallelujah for clouds! What would you do differently?: nothing, though I probably should have taken it a little easier since the run was difficult for me. On the other hand, I think the run would have been difficult regardless. Transition 2
Comments: Nothing exciting here, except that I forgot to put my sunglasses back on. They had gotten pulled off when I pulled off my helmet and I never put them back on. What would you do differently?: make sure I have everything Run
Comments: I haven't run more than 6.5 miles in the last 7 weeks post IM. This hurt. My pace was really slow. I only walked the aid stations and one hill on the 2nd lap and this was SUPER slow. Legs felt like lead. Goal was 2:10...didn't happen. I was dizzy for most of the 2nd lap. That was not a good feeling. On my 2nd lap, I was looking forward to the the aid station with the ice water sponges. Then after I used it, I realized they were reusing the sponges that people had thrown on the ground! UGH. What would you do differently?: run more. Post race
Warm down: Nearly collapse at the finish. Julia asked if I wanted to go to the med tent. She's so sweet, she even hugged me all nasty and sweaty. Found my family - my mom was in town, so she got to see the race. Laid in the grass for a while, got some food, then hung out in the beer tent with the Dillards, Drew, Susan, Katie and Dime. I had NO beer however. I didn't feel very good. The good news is that I PR'd. Took 8 minutes off from the Playtri race. And comparing with this race, I took 30 mins off from last year. So this is all good. What limited your ability to perform faster: I have no idea. Event comments: The 5430 events are always well run and a good time! Last updated: 2008-01-21 12:00 AM

My motivation has been seriously lacking since the IM. When I signed up for this race many months ago, it sounded like a good idea. Didn't seem like a good idea the morning of the race though.
Struggled to get out of bed at 4 am. Had my soy protein shake, packed up and left for Boulder. Realized about 5 minutes into my drive that my helmet was still sitting in the garage. Went back to get it.
Set up transition. Hung out with Scott and Julia on the beach complaining about how we had no motivation. It was kinda funny to b*tch and moan about racing. So unlike me, let alone Scott and Julia! Sauntered down to the start as the wave before mine went off.
None, even though Mark told me to swim.
