Swim
Comments: a lot of people together at the start - lots of bumping and hitting. I couldn't get clear until 2/3 of the way around the first loop. Then dried to get drafting, but everyone was swimming crooked, so I would draft a few strokes, then correct my heading. I felt like it was slow... but looking at my other races this is in fact my fastest time in the water to date. What would you do differently?: I need more open water practice - which will never happen... Transition 1
Comments: I was quite dizzy getting out of the water, fell over into another person. Decided it was easier to sit down and take off wet suit. I also decided this time - as it was a cool morning - to wear socks and put on a cycling jersey. Socks went on fine, jersey was stuck a little. Also feet were numb from the cold swim. What would you do differently?: I was cold and disoriented, I could not really have gone much faster given the condition I was in. Time for T1 was an estimate - out of water in 33, out of transition approx 36min. Bike
Comments: I felt great on the bike - according to my computer I averaged 30pkh - this is excellent, as I usually only get about 27 kph. I pushed hard... had one small mental lapse at about 15k, speed dropped to 25kph and was passed by a couple people. On the way back, at about 36k I developed SEVERE pain in my groin. Had an open sore on the right side. What would you do differently?: This I thought was good - it is my best cycling time yet, but was a flat course. Transition 2
Comments: Hard to get feet in shoes because they were numb - just hoped they were in properly. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I took my 10:1 breaks and stopped at all the water stations. I did have to take a potty break at 6.5k - never had that before. Overall I had my fastest run time on an olypic triathlon. And also within 2min of my most recent 10k race time. What would you do differently?: I simply need to learn to run faster. Post race
Warm down: stretching, cup of water - then drove an hour to Radium Hot springs for a soak :) What limited your ability to perform faster: this is my fastest Oly yet... to get faster I need to do more hard rides and runs... Event comments: An excellent locations, very picturesque. Good flat, fast course. The only thing is the elite athletes skew the results... so us mortals have a slower overall time. But it is nice to see the elites in person and racing !! Last updated: 2008-02-04 12:00 AM

Had Tim Horton's for breakfast. Rob and I took the wrong turn and had to back track to get to Cranbrook and then out to Wasa Lake. Had a cup of tea. Peed a few times.
Swam about 200m.
