Swim
Comments: Lined up right in the middle front row. Ran into the water and got to the point where I couldn't high knee it anymore, so I dove in and started swimming. Apparently it was still kind of early because someone who was still running kicked me in the face. So I got back up and started running again, fixed my googles and got going. Never felt comfortable until I rounded the 1st buoy. There was a guy to my right who looked to be having a hard time, but no one else around me. Wasn't sure if everyone had gotten that far in front of me or if I was swimming that good and was in front of them. Got to the first buoy and I rounded it so close that I cut my right hand on the chain that weighs it down. After the 1st buoy I got into a good pace. Rounded the 2nd buoy again really close and spotted the finish really well. Swam hard and still had no one around me. As I stood up I heard the horn to start the 3rd wave. Ran out and into T1. What would you do differently?: Run a bit longer into the water Transition 1
Comments: I put my shoes on in transition this time as last time trying to get into them on the bike was not a pretty scene. Felt like I had a good T1. Came in and cap and googles off, helmet and glasses on, grabbed the bike and ran on out. My bike was right in the row where the swim enters, and 3 from the end. Perfect spot. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Started out and was spinning the legs. Geared down until I was averaging about 21-22mph. My stomach was a little rough and I'm not sure why, so I sat up a few times. Was still averaging 22mph for most of the way out. Felt good all the way out and the stomach issues stopped at about mile 5. Made the turn and was still feeling good. Actually passed someone in the turn who make the turn a little long. Was still averaging about 22mph coming in and feeling good. Hit mile 10 and decide I would gear down and see how I felt. From that point on I averaged about 24-25mph. So this is why I was surprised why I average below 22mph. Traffic started to pick up at about mile 12. As we came back towards transition, there was a lot of cars and sitting traffic. Bikers were slowing down but I refused to. Almost got taken out by a trailer hitch/bike rack as I squeezed by a car and another rider. Came really close to the other rider and he said something rude, but I kept going. Got my feet out of my shoes and prepared for a flying dismount. Exicuted this perfectly. This is a hard course for it because you have to make a 90 degree turn to get into T2. What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe gear down earlier. Transition 2
Comments: Got in and racked my bike, helmet off, visor and race belt on. Had rolled my socks up so I could easily slip them on and this worked greated except that my one sock got caught in my towel. Got both socks on pretty good and put my shoes on. Had to tie my laces as I don't have yankz or anything yet. What would you do differently?: Get Yankz to make putting on shoes easier. Run
Comments: Wanted to go as hard as I could. Was feeling pretty good and nothing really exciting happened ont he run. Was only passed by 3 people on the run. 2 guys and the women's overall leader. Got water at miles 1 & 2 and drank a little, then dumped the rest on my head. On the run back in saw Wendi coming back in on the bike. Then saw her going out on the run. Passed a good amount of people on the run, but never saw anyone in my age group. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around and went over to see Mike and the G8R kids. Talked to him for a bit before I went to get something to eat. Came back to wait for Wendi to finish What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: They used chips for the first time ever in this race. It is the first time I have ever placed in this series. I set a PR by over 5 minutes. :) Last updated: 2008-02-05 12:00 AM

Woke up at about 4:25, after my alarm had been going off for 10mins. Took a shower to wake up and then shaved. Put all my gear in the car. Had a breakfast bar and headed out the door. On the drive I had a Gatorade. Just before the race I had a CarbBoom.
Nothing. Just got in the water to see what it felt like. Watched the dolphin swimming back and forth across the course. Hung out with the G8RS until it was time to line up.
