First competitive swim of any type. Didn't do too bad. Had an open spot in front and behind me so I never got passed.

Wasn't prepared for it to be so hilly. Felt like I should have been a lot faster, but was fighting a stitch and sore shoulder early in the ride. It was so short that just when I started to feel good, it was over.
What would you do differently?:

Start out a little slower, build to race pace.

Started off the run really poorly. Tried to go to fast and had to really slow down to get into a good rhythm. Once I got into the woods, caught a second wind and did ok considering the difficulty of the course.
What would you do differently?:

start out slower.

Course: Course was very rolling. I think it ended up with about 800ft of ascent in just 10 miles. Nothing especially steep or long, just constant up and down hills. Very little traffic.

Course: Almost 75% trail run ... and not smooth flat trails either. There many ruts, rocks, roots, steep climbs and descents and a very narrow trail. It definately was a challenge.
