Pre-race routine:

Breakfast: coffee, a banana, granola bar, and a propel.
We got out to the race way too early. We weren't sure what to expect so we gave ourselves alot of time. Next time we'll sleep in a bit more.
Event warmup:

I didn't stretch nearly enough! It was snowing pretty hard outside and the car was so warm that I couldn't seem to make myself properly warm up. We jogged to the starting line, that's about it.

Comments:

I ran with Brian and a friend of mine during the race. We all weren't sure what to expect so we started off in the back of the pack... big mistake. We spent the first mile wading through walkers and joggers. Our first mile time was slow b/c of all the traffic. My friend and I kept an easy pace since we had never run that far before. Overall we both felt really good and we agreed that we will push it a little harder/faster next time.
What would you do differently?:

As always- hydrate better! Stretch/ warm up more. Don't start off in the very back. It's too hard to set a good pace from there. Overall, I was really happy with everything considering it was my first :).

Walked to the bus line and waited in the cold for our ride.

Still a novice :)

Course: I think it was a good choice for my first 10k! It starting out on the streets for the first mile and a half or so, then the rest was on the SCT. It was also my first time on the SCT so it was all new to me.
