Pre-race routine:

Got up and ate half a yogurt then drove over to EPCOT. From EPCOT rode bus to starting line. Stood in Runner Relations line to get my chip number changed to the right number. Then lined up for the start of the race.

Comments:

The first few miles felt really good. The next few miles felt ok but I knew we had taken the first few miles out a bit fast. The next mile felt ok as well, then about mile 7 my left foot really started to hurt. I finished the race with a bit of a kick then a bee line to the medical tent for ice.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear shoes that have 280 miles on them for race day. Also I would take the first few miles out a bit slower.
Post race
Warm down:

Bee line to medical tent for ice.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Foot really hurting the last few miles.

Event comments:

Race was really fun, it was nice to be in the pointy end of the field for once. I loved running with friends then cheering them into the finish. Sad that this was the last year of the race.

Course: The course was the last 9.3 of the marathon. The first couple of miles were spent getting away from Animal Kingdom. Then we did the out and back by Wide World of Sports. There was a bit of a hill to get around so that we could get into Hollywood Studios. At the porta Johns right there we had to make a pit stop but we did not loose much time. Then came the time to run into the studios. It felt like we were running backstage forever, but it felt awesome when we finally were on stage. Going around the Hat we saw Mulan and Mushoo. Then it was time to leave the Studios and run to EPCOT. Around mile 7 my left foot started to really hurt so this slowed us down for the last couple of miles. I was in pain but had a smile on my face when we saw some friends at the Beach Club. The last couple of hills into and in EPCOT were really painful even more so than running on flat ground. It seemed like it took forever to get around the World Showcase but then we were finally in Future World and looking at the last leg of the race. When we got to the finishing area I sped up because I really wanted to finish in under 1h 30 min. Then of course I made a bee line to get some ice for my foot that just wanted to be out of my shoes.
