Swim
Comments: I started stong and just kept up the pace. Bumped into a few people but overall it was good. Just tried to stay strong after the first 200 meters. Sighting was a bit off going into the sun. I got off course a bit but not too bad. Got out of the water at 36:23. I was a bit dissapointed but thought, oh well just stick to the plan for the day. I was told by many that the swim was long. I believe it. My swimming has really come along and I know it was better than that. Took off 30 seconds compared to my race here 2 years ago. I did this as a relay last year. Goal was under 35" What would you do differently?: Sight better. Transition 1
Comments: 5th fastest in the agegroup and I even put on My garmin! I went smoothly! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Great ride. Took off 5 1/2 minutes from the last time I raced here. Didn't push real hard on the way out of the rez. A few guys went by me. THat was ok. my Plan was to push into z3 on the second loop. Hit it harder on the donwhills and passed a lot of people. Didn't feel real strong on the up hills today. Got to the second loop and was feeling pretty good. I wanted to be around 2:25 today. Played tag with a 45 year old guy almost the whole way around the second lap. We had to pass a frickin boat trailer ahead of us on the LEFT! That is a nono. BUt what else was I to do. THe corner worker sent him right in front of us. GOt around quickly and no headon collisions! Pushed it hard the last 4 miles and entered T2 ready to run. The renn disk was good on the flats and downhills, but heavy on the uphills, and slow. Very happy with the ride. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: 1st in the agegroup here! What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Really happy about my run today! 2 minute PR from the last time I ran here! I wanted to be right around 1:35. SO I was close. Started easy. Ran with Garry Roseman for the first mile. He then pulled away to be about 200 yards away the whole race. Actually I passed him at mile 9 and held him off. So I just ran easy for the first 3 miles. My lower back was very tight and my left hammie was tight. I was worried and thought it would not loosen up. It did around mile 4. Just kept crusing the first lap. Second lap I picked it up around mile 7 and was feeling good. Kept pushing the pace a bit more each mile. Got to mile 10 and saw my coach. He asked me how the swim and bike and first lap of the run were. I said good. Told him the time ect. He then told me to run the last 3 miles like an al out 5k. Well I did pick it up but only managed like 7 minute miles. My garmin did not pick up any mile splits. That thing just irks me. Finished hard and caught Ben Kuster and Peter Madden at the end and was stoked. Passed Cooper walking so that was good too! Started cramping right at the top of the last downhill but held it together and passed some more folks. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Good plan! Post race
Warm down: I got a massage this time because my outside quads were really tight and my calves were also tight. Beers and burritos! Nice to hang out with all the BTers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe electrolyes. I was told by Coach Ricci that I need to take even more. So that is what I will do! Event comments: Much better run race than the Peak. Aid stations were awesome and lots of ice on the run! Last updated: 2008-02-22 12:00 AM
