Total Time = 1h 37m 1s
Overall Rank = 27/300
Age Group = 15-19
Age Group Rank = 1/
Pre-race routine:

up at 4:55, coffee and oatmeal, 2 hour drive
Event warmup:

running back and forth between car and start line to get forgotten items
Run
  • 1h 37m 1s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 07m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

went w/ mindset of using the race as a recovery run/test to see if I could return to full-throttle training after a week of being sick; started trying to race Kevin Davies for the 1st 5 miles instead; then backed-off; felt good all things considered; but still very weak from being sick
What would you do differently?:

follow my own plan, don't try to race other people when my goal is to recover, be more focused pre-start (i.e. left race tag at car)
Post race
Warm down:

walked to car and back

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being sick
going out faster than I knew I could maintain; this slowed me down a lot later in the race

Event comments:

could've used some protein-containing post-race snacks to help athletes recovery; more post-race activities would be nice
