Swim
Comments: First 100 meters went fine. I caught the swimmer ahead of me and passed at the turn. Caught the next swimmer at the next turn. I was downhill after that. Got stuck in a group that I didn't have enough speed to get out of. Lost alot of time at the turns, since it seemed like there was always 6 or more at each turn. Ended up doing the side stroke for most of the race to protect my face and lack of space. I was faster the the guy in front of me on the side stroke. I had swimmer behind me clawing at my feet. Two swimmers on my left kicking and hitting me. Basically stuck in traffic for the bulk of the swim. I was tired from being kicked and hit. What would you do differently?: Practice sprint swimming so I can pass people. Need to do alot more swimming! Transition 1
Comments: No issues here. I had everything laid out properly. PI sockless shoes went on easy. Surprised by how long my time was, since everything went smoothly. What would you do differently?: Tri suit, so I don't have to put on a shirt. Run faster from pool to transition. Practice running in my bike shoes. Bike
Comments: Time was lost on the run from dismount to timing mat. Passed a bunch of people, no one passed me. That made me happy. Kept my pace down, so I would not be burnt for the run. Could have kept riding. No issues here. Oh, based on the results, it easy to see who did only two laps. Hmm, I don't think anyone managed to average 40.53 mph = (. Why is first place bike missing???? I would say the first five places on the bike segment are suspect, IMHO. Oh, well............ What would you do differently?: Need to practice running with bike in road shoes, or learn how to get out of shoes on bike and leave them attached to bike. The run from dismount to racking was definitly slow due to being in the road shoes. Transition 2
Comments: Had a lot of problems getting my Zoot sockless shoes on. My feet were still wet and I struggled getting my feet in the shoes. Bummed, since these shoes are supposed to be designed for this. What would you do differently?: dry feet again? Practice putting on shoes with wet feet. Figure out what is the issue Run
Comments: Hit my pace that I though I would run, 10 min mile. I was really struggling. Got passed by three people. What would you do differently?: Need to run alot more! Other than that it went well Post race
Warm down: Had drink and bagel. Quick stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: Need more time swimming and running. Just not enough experience. Converted race results to Excel file, so it is easy to sort/analyis now and see where I can improve my times. Event comments: Very organized. Surprised to be handed a finishers metal. Great first timers race. Plan to do again next year. Last updated: 2008-03-05 12:00 AM

Ate my normal breakfast at home, oatmeal, cinnamon, honey and raw almonds. Had a cup of coffee. Drank Powerbar Endurance drink on the way to the race. Probably 10 oz.
Not too much. Did some streching before prerace talk.
