Swim
Comments: I was worried about being in the way of others as my swim time was realistic a couple of months ago, but not today. The others around me assured me it was ok. It turns out it was. I passed one slow swimmer, and then the girl behind me caught me a exactly 100m. I told her to go ahead at the wall, and then I fell in and drafted her the whole way. I can honestly say, this is my best race for drafting. My time still wasn't great, but it was about :30 faster than I feared it would be. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad; not great. What would you do differently?: nothing really. Bike
Comments: The first loop felt good, although the 3rd segment of the rectangle seemed to take forever. I felt strong on the hills on the backside, however. I felt somewhat fatigued on the second loop, but I was pleased to see it did it a little quicker. I stayed aero nicely except in the turns, but I did have some saddle soreness at the end. What would you do differently?: More training. Transition 2
Comments: Bumped the other bikes near me as I swung the bike around. Otherwise, just an average T2. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Run
Comments: Knee hurt starting the 3rd mile. It was significant and caused me to walk off and on, but my endurance had given out as well. Not my best run, and very frustrating as I had run 4.8 miles pain-free just one week before. Warm down: Grabbed and ice pack and sat down. Didn't even stretch. I was just relieved to be done. I am sure I will pay for that later. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training and knee pain. Event comments: Nice race close to home. Well run and organized. Last updated: 2008-03-19 12:00 AM

Got up, got dressed, ate a serving of oatmeal. Got the family in the car right on time at 5:30. Set up, got my chip, and hit the bathroom with plenty of time for warmup.
Biked around the corner to make sure all was in good shape and the bike was in a good gear. Ran a short distance to the corner and back. Swam a solid 100m, but I didn't overdo it as they kicked us out of the pool 15 minutes before race start, and I was going to have to wait >30 minutes for my time trial start anyway.
