Pre-race routine:

Usual set up of transition, ate power bar 30 mins prior to race start with lots of water.
Swim
  • 12m
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

Broke my 4th toe on my right foot on the outbound leg. I kicked a rock in the far too shallow water. Toe hurt like the dickens throughout the entire swim.
What would you do differently?:

Will never do this race again!
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Hobbled up the beach due to the hurt toe; was bothered by the toe enough that I didn't take my swim cap off until I got to my bike, very unlike previous races where I was real good about removing cap and goggles as I exited the water on the run to transition; got on the bike ok and wasn't as smooth getting into the shoes, again because I was protecting my right toe
Bike
  • 28m
  • 11.8 miles
  • 25.29 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a great bike ride! I was eating up other riders left and right; my cornering and turns were sharp and I was a shifting maniac; I was very pleased with my ride
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

My foot hurt like hell, I hobbled into transition with my bike, put my running shoes and cap on and left transition without my sunglasses due to my distraction
What would you do differently?:

Should never have left transition with my toe in the condition it was in
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

Got about 100-200 yards down the road and had to quit since my toe hurt sooo bad. I knew I could not finish the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Sought medical attention

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ah, lets see.....oh yeah, could be the broken toe on my right foot.

Event comments:

Maybe I'm soured by my problem with my toe, but this was a terrible location to conduct a swim. I even had a lifeguard tell me he hit a rock when he jumped off his board at the shore. In addition to the broken toe, I suffered a scrape on my left foot. As I swam, I also kept brushing my finger tips across the rocks and reef. The race started late (by 10 minutes) and when I asked several volunteers where to get medical aid, none knew where to send me nor did anyone offer help. I was very disappointed and I only hope to heal enough to be able to compete in my next race so I don't end the season on this sour note.
