Pre-race routine:

I woke up at 4:30 to the internal head alarm singing "We Built This City". :o Ate breakfast, jammed stuff in the car and left home at 5:30. On site, I picked up my packet, got marked, set up transition, chatted with Jonathan and Jen (jowisc and jschmit). Suddenly, it was time to check in for the swim.
Event warmup:

Um, yeah. I wish I had planned my time a bit better and at least gotten a quick run in.
Swim
  • 08m 10s
  • 450 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was really stiff on the swim and punked out early. As it turns out, the time was better than last year but below my expectations.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up doing something. Anything.
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

I took my sweet old time in T1, as you can tell. :)
What would you do differently?:

T1 is always an area I need to work on. I really need to learn the "rubber band the shoes" trick. That would help a bunch.
Bike
  • 34m 59s
  • 11.18 miles
  • 19.17 mile/hr
Comments:

I was surprised by how much the wind picked up as the ride continued. I'm certain it wasn't tiredness setting in because I've been really strong on flats. My Garmin has the course length at 10.32 mi which would have put me more at a 17.7 mph.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was pretty happy with this performance.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Another luxurious transition. I just didn't have a fire lit about transition. Something to work on I suppose.
What would you do differently?:

Guess.
Run
  • 26m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a good run given where my running fitness is at. I'm pleased with this performance and even more excited about where I'll be later in the season.

About 20 ft. from the finish, I hit a soft muddy spot and completely tweaked my right ankle. Hurt like heck for sure and is going to take a few days to heal.
What would you do differently?:

Missed the muddy spot. Duh.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked off the ankle to some degree. Did a bit of stretching. Packed up my gear and went into the Y and showered. I felt better after getting clean.

Looking at the results, even if I busted out my transitions, I wouldn't have AG'd here. There were some super fast women on the course today. However, once the run gets into place, I really need to pay attention to transitions because it really could cost me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Some stupid things like not warming up and taking my sweet 'ole time in transition.

Event comments:

This is a good start to the season race. Jump started the desire to race in a comfortable environment.
