Comments:

started off about mid pack by design. didnt want to go balls out and burn out ya know. well dodging and weaving and all that crap that goes on when you start mid pack led to a 6:17 opening mile. not exactly what i had intended but hey, deal with it right?? settled into a nice pace after that, but was never really able to hit my comfy stride zone as everytime i approached hitting it there appeared to be a little lake stretching out across the path. at that point you had two options, 1. go around and run in the much, or 2. run right thru it. well the first one i ran around it and thru the muck but after that i ran right thru it..........makes it kinda difficult when the water is cold and ankle deep!! (well at least for us short guys anyway!)

hit the turn around and have to admit that when i started seeing the fellow donks that were running (force, sgoerhner, pjgrande, firstnet, amyjotri and tri-n-spin) that my quads were frickin D-E-A-D dead i say!!! but after taking a powergel double caffeine, strawberry banana flavor (sponser shout out, well, if i had a sponser that is..........)my quads and mental attitude started feeling better....that is until i hit the series of minilakes again. they werent so bad this time around tho as i just "blasted" right on thru. once you got past that stretch tho you had to deal with the wind..ugh..just about right in your face and oh yeah, FRICKIN COLD TOO!! so basically did not hit my goal time that i wanted to hit, but, i am happy with these results!
What would you do differently?:

not sign up. stay at home in bed. maybe go out for breakfast as an alternative??
Post race
Warm down:

cross the finish line, thank the lord that i was done, gulp down big cup of water. then went inside and got my sweatpants on plus my coat. went back out to the course and ran/walked the last mile until i saw all the donkeys. ran back in with firstnet and amyjo

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of natural speed.

Event comments:

thought that the water stations could be better. they had rather large cups for people and then filled them quit high. i personally like the smaller cups.

great to see all the donkeys out there running, despite the crapola conditions! eawesome to see those who came out for support as well (TriDDS, Sandi, Travis). overall an excellent way to kick off donkeyfest weekend!! and all the donkeys performed very very eeeeaaaaawesome!!!! GREAT JOB GUYS AND GALS!!!
