Swim
Comments: Happy with performance, but could push harder. I got into middle of pack to practice swim start warfare for bigger races. Got a few kicks but didn't lose goggles. I have prescription goggles and sometimes have siting problems, but no issue today. What would you do differently?: push harder to get a better drafting opportunity at the start. Transition 1
Comments: i don't start with pedals on bike, wish i could learn that. What would you do differently?: nothing except learn to put shoes on while on the bike Bike
Comments: Awesome bike, I passed alot of people. Came out of T2 5th in age group. Wonderful tailwind out 15mph, averaged 25 plus. Spun easy seated up the bridge, holy cow 37 going down bridge, that scares me. Passed 70 bikes, got passed by 2 cervellos. Was really strong going back into headwind, thanks to that Great Mississippi Levy wind I practice in. What would you do differently?: Can't think of anything. Maybe push harder on the way out and learn to take feet out of shoes quicker. Transition 2
Comments: no issues What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Actually very good for me. I am a very slow runner who was kicked out of clydesdale class last year. Felt really strong going out with a 2 mile split of 18. Thought I was rocking, till I turned around into the headwind. Mile 3 went up to 9:33. I punished myself in mile 4 and got back down to 9 minute pace. Right ankle had standard pain for most of mile 3 & 4. What would you do differently?: Probably could have went out faster with the tailwind, just didn't even consider it would be a headwind coming home. Post race
Warm down: Stayed near finish to cheer wife and friends in (she got 3rd in age group). Didn't stretch or do any of the things your supposed to. What limited your ability to perform faster: I believe I can push myself to swim faster, my form has improved but I am not pushing enuff. The run improvements are small but got 40 seconds on last year. Event comments: Its not the most organized, but its the most fun. The Florabama has moved with me from my partying youth to my middle age madness of racing. Considering the hurricane situation, the race was awesome. Last updated: 2005-04-20 12:00 AM

Okay, this is my first post. I started racing 3 years ago with my wife and really enjoy it. I found this sight last month and it rocks. So great to see race reports, wish I had seen it earlier.
Here I go!
Zone Bar and coffee at 4:30. Then some water. Check race bag, suit up and then ride bike from condo to race site
They changed swim from ole river to the gulf. thought about trying wetsuit for first time, but decided too short a swim. did a half mile run, and put my feet in the cold water. A little worried about rocks in transition area, but they carpeted it while we were swimming.
