Swim
Comments: I am a horrible swimmer to begin with and the waves and poor sighting didn't help my cause but I got through it forgot about it and went on with the rest of the race. What would you do differently?: Defiently...100% better navigation. My sighting was aweful. I probabaly could have saved 2-3 minutes. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time made sure I had everything I needed for my ride. I wasn't in a big hurry but I wasnt there to take a nap so I did what i needed to do and was on my way. What would you do differently?: Nothing, perhaps go a smidge faster. Bike
Comments: Felt amazing the whole ride. I havent felt this good on a bike in forever. It felt effortless really. Besides for a few hills and some headwinds this ride was enjoyable! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I did what i could perhaps train more to become faster. Transition 2
Comments: Once again took my time made sure I had my gels and nutrition and went on my way. What would you do differently?: Go faster, use lace locks Run
Comments: First mile or two felt effortless with a 6:30 first mile and a 7ish second mile then the cramps came about and it was rough! Cramps in my stomach and then once the hills came at mile 7 leg cramps and muscles tightened so i was forced to stop and stretch. Had a rough 6-10 miles. Mile 10-11 was awesome. Everyone was out cheering the runners on through the town and I was on a high then once miles 11, 12, 13 came I hit a wall and felt horrible. Lack of calories killed me so i took everything at the next aid stations and did a death march to the finish. Lucky I ran all the way and had a 8 minute mile. What would you do differently?: Nutrition was horrible! I need to practice that to a "T" next year Post race
Warm down: Walk a round got a message and sat in the cool pool. Ate some grub and spent time with my family until it started to downpour like no other. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1) Swim was horrible 2) Couldn't get my cleats on my pedals 3)Cramps on the run 4)Stretching on the run Event comments: Awesome race there was probabaly a race volunteer for each participant. Musicians, townsmen, and children routing and cheering us on for the whole race it was a treat! Last updated: 2008-04-16 12:00 AM
