Swim
  • 11m 33s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Hi tide so it wasn't a water jog today. No issues, decent swim. Lost 1 seoncd to last year, but I did swim it all this year vs last years water jogging in parts.
Transition 1
  • 02m 49s
Comments:

Long run to transition but no issues. The long run brings me down on rankings. I was 15th in ag.
Bike
  • 47m 26s
  • 16.4 miles
  • 20.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Start is a very steep uphill and I was in the too hard a gear. Thought I was in easiest gear and I barely made it up the hill. Got passed by 6 people going up the dang hill. Once I realized I was in too tough a gear I got to moving. Passed 40 people and had a good ride. Improved 1 minute 49 seconds versus prior year.

The technical nature of this course challenged me. There were lots of turns and I was very conservative on them. The turns were almost blind and I just was conservative with 2 way bike traffic.
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more bridges and big gear work, but happy with the improvement. Last year I rode the road bike without aero bars. Lighter bike but need aero. Maybe I should slap some bars on the roadie.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

No issues, long run just with the bike but quick in and out. 10th in AG.
What would you do differently?:

My watch says 40 seconds but the chip timing said 1:11. I must have stopped the watch for 30 seconds ???
Run
  • 30m 54s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Not as tough as I hoped. Legs just didn't want to go. Lost 50 seconds to last year.
What would you do differently?:

run faster
Post race
Warm down:

walked around watched friends come in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not as good on the bike as I should be and paid for it on the run.

Event comments:

This race continues to grow and improve. Challenging course with plenty of support, volunteers were numberous and did a great job. They had alot of the local tri club members working instead of racing and having triathletes as volunteers improves the quality of the work. Good party, plenty of beer, music. Awards were pretty quick. Only complaint is they try to make you pick up packet before the race which is a pain for the semi locals.

We had a fun bunch at the race and worm got his revenge on me today. He even beat me on the bike. I don't mind him beating me, but he shouldn't beat me on the bike!!
