Swim
Comments: Settled in after 5 minutes, then actually enjoyed being able to see the lake ground with plants and fishes I had an issue with my wetsuit because it turned out slightly too short, was trying several times to pull it back down... The time includes going up 60 stairs to the transition area, that took me 1:30 What would you do differently?: Nothing really, other than getting a long sleeved and longer wetsuit Transition 1
Comments: Took one gel and a little Gatorade No blood in legs yet, could not run yet... I tried to dry my feet, but that did not work too well T1 time was rank 45 overall, 7 in AG What would you do differently?: Get a mat to stand on Bike
Comments: Generally we headed out with tailwind and coming back with headwind, which sucked What would you do differently?: Turn off the wind Transition 2
Comments: I actually felt pretty good about the transition time but it turned out to be fairly slow in comparison I took the time to get a gel and some Gatorade which was definitely the right thing to do T2 time was rank 60 overall, 10 in AG What would you do differently?: Not sure how to cut more time... Run
Comments: I could not push any harder Ran all hills except for the last, which I walked fast What would you do differently?: Loose weight!!! Post race
Warm down: Finished half Gatorade, bottle of water He only food provided were pancakes and bananas What limited your ability to perform faster: Water temperature Stairs up the hill right after the swim Wind during the bike Hilly terrain Other than these external factors, I think I was very well prepared. Actually, it is pretty awesome that I managed to meet my timegoal of 2:45, given the conditions. I only wonder what I can do with better conditions... Event comments: I would definitely return next year, especially with a long wetsuit and with less weight...;-) Last updated: 2008-05-05 12:00 AM

Age Group Rank = 7/13
Woke up at 4.30, left the house at 5am, had a 2 hour drive
Breakfast at home was a bowl of cereal
On the way I had 2 bananas, 1 Red Bull and 1 Gatorade
Around 7.30 I had a Clif Bar and some Gatorade
I arrived on site at 7am, which was perfect timing, I had enough time to prepare everything comfortably
There was a pre-meeting at 8:40 explaining the race etc, I had a gel and some Gatorade just before
No warmup really, fortunately I did not go into the lake as most of the others because on short notice the start changed to a shore-based start
