Swim
Comments: I was not very happy with my swim time, even though this was my first tri. I was hoping to come in closer to 15 minutes, but my training tp a backseat to travel for work in June and then I developed an eye infection this last week and had to stay out of the water. I felt that I was switching up my strokes way too much, which also slowed me down. What would you do differently?: I need to get in more swim practice before my next tri, especially in open water. Transition 1
Comments: I was able to get my wetsuit off pretty easily, but then realized that I had not gotten my bike shoes ready to put them when I set up my tranisition area. What would you do differently?: I would make sure that my shoes were ready to put on and also practice more. Bike
Comments: First thing, as I was setting up my transition area I realized that I had left my computer in my purse back at the hotel so I felt a little lost with the speed and distance. I knew there would be a strong headwind coming back in so I pushed it the first 6 miles. After making the turn just after the six mile mark I was not only hit with the headwind, but also a crosswind that was almost unbearable. In the end I was very happy with my time. According to the results this is one of my best rides I have ever done thanks to the tailwind the first 6 miles. What would you do differently?: There isn't too much that I would do differently with this ride as it was my best ride so far. Transition 2
Comments: I was doing really well this transition until I realized that I needed to use the bathroom before going out on the run. I grabbed some Gatorade G2 and a package of sport beans before heading out on the run. What would you do differently?: There isn't too much I could do differently. I hadn't really drank that much water or gatorade. I just need a bigger bladder. Run
Comments: I had to walk way too much during the run, but as always I started out a little too fast and then was hit in the face by the wind as I turned the first corner. After passing passing my parents and my boyfriend's parents I walked for about a 1/2 mile and then alternated walking/running throughout the rest of the distance. I was able to push it the last 1/2 mile and finish running at a good pace. What would you do differently?: I would work to start out at a better pace, so that I can get into a better running rhythm. Post race
Warm down: I met up with my boyfriend and both sets of parents, walked back to transition to get my bike. I rode my bike the 1.7 miles back to the outlet mall parking lot. Event comments: I thought the event was very well organized. The parking was the only issue that I had with the whole weekend. I was worried about space in transition so I racked my bike on Saturday, but it would have been nice to have my bike to ride in on race morning which was an option given to us. I had a very good time and am already planning to come back next year. Hoping to recruit a couple of friends to run it with me. Last updated: 2008-05-08 12:00 AM

The night before we stayed at a hotel in the Racine area, so we got up around 4 am and were on the road by 4:30. I had racked my bike on Saturday at the race expo, so we walked the 1.7 miles from the outlet mall parking lot to the race site.
1.7 mile walk from the outlet mall and walk from transition to swim start. Realxed and watched the first few waves take off while I waited until wave 21 was called.
My wave was the "exceptional" triathletes.
