Swim
Comments: Not too bad for me and definitely an improvement over last year when I felt like I was going to sink. On the back segments of the course I was very wide of the buoys which cost me some time. In general, for me it was a decent swim b/c navigation was OK and I did not have to stop at all. What would you do differently?: Swim a narrower track. Transition 1
Comments: Not sure how to explain this slow time, but at least there is room to improve. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Bike
Comments: I pushed pretty hard throughout the bike segment b/c this is where I can pick up some time. I was passed only twice by clearly superior bikers. Had a little trouble switching chain rings throughout the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Transition 2
Comments: Not too bad. Didn't move with much urgency. What would you do differently?: Same as before...move faster. Run
Comments: Started real slow b/c the hills at the start are tough. Picked it up on the second half of the run. This was a pretty good pace for me. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around, banana, water. Found family. Event comments: Kind of disappointed with my rank, but Galena brings out many good triathletes. So I can't complain too much. I just need to eliminate the wasted time in transitions and continue to improve my own conditioning and save a few more minutes here and there. Still a 14 minute improvement over last year. Arrived about 7:30 to swim site. Spent a good 45 minutes in TI getting bike ready and packing transition bag.
A little stretching and a quick dip in the 59 degree water before my wave went off at 9:21.
