Swim
Comments: The beginning was tough. People couldn't swim straight and since I wasn't in position I was in the middle fighting through everyone. I few times I couldn't catch my breath and I had to fight not to panic. Never felt like I got a good rhythm. Felt Like I was fighting it the whole way. What would you do differently?: Get a better position for the start. Transition 1
Comments: Felt pretty good. Shirt stuck to me some which slowed me down. High traffic as well which I had to move around people. Putting on socks takes some much time when your feet are wet. What would you do differently?: Re-think the shirt and socks. Not really sure. Bike
Comments: I was going about 17mph avg on the way out and 20mph avg on the way back. I got passed by SOOOOO.... many people. My biking is horrible compared to others. It's like I have to make a major effort to maintain the speed. If i take my mind off it at any moment my speed drops quickly. The funny part is at the end I was getting passed by a group of 8 or so. We got to the hill and I flew past them. That just doesn't make any sense to me. I did enjoy the course. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive. Transition 2
Comments: I've got this part down pretty good. I drop everything put the running shoes on and grab my hat and race belt and put them on while I'm running. Only thing that really slows me down is I do stop to take a drink from my bottle. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The first mile was painful. I felt like I was just jogging and it hurt. Just over a mile I got some of my running legs back so I picked up the pace. My breathing was all over the place. Hard to control. The last mile I could here people behind gaining on me. It was a group of 3. First guy passed me but I kept on his heels. I then picked up the pace again and passed him. I could still the group behind me. About 400 yards left all 3 passed me and one had a 32 on his leg. I said hell no I'm not going out like that. I went into a dead sprint and they followed. We were all sprinting into the finish. Two of the 3 couldn't hang, but that darn 32 year old stayed with me. I then went all out and we crossed the finish. I beat him by a hair. What would you do differently?: Why does it take someone passing me in my age group for me to pick up my pace. I know I can speed up since I do it every time. I want to run all out. Where is my drive. Just before mile 2 I saw someone I knew and didn't want him catching me so I speed up. I'm not real happy with myself. Post race
Warm down: Drank water, Gatorade, Beer and actually got to enjoy the nice weather and awards. I also won a prize. Free Triathlon subscription for a year. What limited your ability to perform faster: THE BIKE, THE BIKE, THE BIKE Event comments: Very good race. I'm sure I will do this one again. Last updated: 2008-05-18 12:00 AM

Well since I was out of town I brought some protein and half a peanut butter sandwich. I also tried a poweraid Gel 1 hour before race.
Just did my normal swim stretch routine.
